As part of our Hello Kindness Campaign, our BCE Student Council presented a poster to our Herriman Unified Fire Department to thank them for their service to our community. Every student was given the chance to add their thumbprint to the poster!
Our 4th grade students were able to participate in a Waters Van Visit by the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. Students were able to develop an understanding of the function and role of a wetland in Utah through hands-on learning and by meeting animal ambassadors from Utah’s wetlands.
On January 30th, Ms. Thorn's class enjoyed a visit to the Utah State Capitol.
We would like to congratulate our previous Administrative Assistant, Connie Robinson, on her retirement! Our BCE community would like to welcome our new Administrative Assistant, Tricia Loveridge! Here is a little more about her...
Hello! My name is Tricia Loveridge. I have lived in Herriman with my family for the past 12 years. I love Herriman! It is such a beautiful place. I just recently became the new administrative assistant at Butterfield Canyon Elementary, which I am very excited about!! I have worked at the school for 9 years doing different jobs. I love the people I work with and the students at our school! We have an amazing school and staff and I consider myself very lucky to be a part of it.
A little about about me. I grew up in Upstate New York in a small town called Whitesboro. I love New York and still consider myself a New Yorker. I also lived in Nevada for 13 years in a little town called Winnemucca. I am married to an amazing husband and we have 5 beautiful children, 4 boys and 1 girl. I also have 1 daughter-in-law and 1 adorable grand baby!
When I’m not at work I love to travel, cook, spend time with my family, use my silhouette and browse Pinterest. I also love being a Bobcat!!! I look forward to helping each of you at our school.

Toys for Tots
Thank you for your generosity in making Toys for Tots a great success again this year! We were able to collect thirteen boxes full of toys to donate to families in need - WOW! The Marines came to collect them last Friday. They also put on a presentation about the Toys for Tots program and brought a light armored vehicle, which students were able to go outside and see. Ms. Bollinger even got to go for a ride! Special thanks to Mrs. Cedor, Miss Buckley and the Third Grade Service Project Students for working to bring this program to our school. Way to go, B.C.E. students and community!
Our 2nd Grade students shared their balloon floats with us today! There was a special guest at the end!
Our November Hello theme is Gratitude. As one of our Hello activities for the month Mrs Barnes, our BTS art teacher, had all the students add their handprint to a banner for our Herriman Police Department to say "Thank You" for all their hard work! Today some of our BCE Student Council members explained our kindness campaign to the Police Department and that our school made this banner for them to show how grateful we are for them.
Due to our increased enrollment and large 4th-6th grade class sizes, we have been able to hire a new certified 4th-6th grade intervention teacher! Please help us welcome Sherry Sutton to our BCE Faculty:
It is an honor and privilege to join Butterfield Canyon Elementary School.
After graduating from Radford University in Virginia with a degree in Elementary Education, I spent most of my adult life in El Paso, TX. There, I raised three amazing children and worked for the El Paso Independent School District for 25 years, teaching kindergarten through sixth grade, and finally technology.
About a year ago, I moved to Salt Lake to be closer to two of my children and three—soon to be four—grandchildren.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with them, traveling, photography and mountain biking.
I am looking forward to this opportunity and very excited to be a Bobcat!
